The husband of a woman caught having sex with one of her daughter’s classmates says he’s “upset and hurt”, but is determined to hold his family together.
Ryan Gibney of Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania has spoken publicly for the first time since his wife’s shocking arrest.
Iris Gibney, a mother-of-four who volunteered for her daughter’s high school cheerleading squad has been charged with having sex with one of her daughter’s classmates in a parked car.
The 42-year-old was arrested and charged with corruption of minors, disseminating obscene materials to a minor and trespass by motor vehicle after allegedly being caught in the act with the 17-year-old boy, The New York Post reports.
Now her husband appears to be sticking by her, at least for the sake of their family.
He told MailOnline although he had been affected by his wife’s alleged actions he was “just trying to keep his family together”.
Even their daughter appears to be supporting her mother. She has been posting frequent pictures on Instagram calling her mother her “best friend” and sharing images of the gifts she’d been given, including Pandora bracelets, make-up and lingerie.
The Pennsylvania mother was allegedly caught by a police officer, naked and engaging in ‘physical contact’ with the boy inside the car at 8.30pm on November 15.
Gibney, who is an employee at Victoria’s Secret, met the boy as she volunteered to help out the cheerleading squad at her daughter’s Pottsgrove high school.
The mother confessed to the illicit relationship when confronted by the officer, according to the arrest report.
“I’ve never been in trouble before. I can’t believe I did this. I have three children of my own — I am so, so sorry,” she allegedly said at the time.
Gibney has been freed on $USD50,000 bail and will face court again on December 30.
