The families of Jesse Tafida and Mercy Tafida have been thrown into mourning following the death of Mercy 12 days after her wedding.
Mr Tafida, a TVC correspondent in Maiduguri, married Mercy on April 30 in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Mercy, who was asthmatic, had health complications after she and her husband applied insecticide in their bedroom.
A colleague of Tafida Borno Hamza spoke with Daily Trust on the incident.
Mr Hamza said that on the fateful day, May 10, Jesse drove his wife to the hospital, where she was provided with urgent medical assistance.
He added that she was discharged that day, only for the situation to worsen the following day. Tafida returned her to the hospital where she was later confirmed dead.
“As the vice chairman of the Borno State correspondents I led a team to the bereaved’s house for condolence. Personally, Jesse is a good person. The couple was very close,” he added.
